Cookies

How You Sound does not use advertising cookies. The website uses Google Analytics to count pages that are opened and which installer download is chosen. In the EU, the UK, and Switzerland that cookie is set only after you agree. Elsewhere it is set without a prompt.
What is stored on your device
The site and the app store a few values in the browser's local storage, or in the installed app, so the product can work:
- A sign-in session, so you stay signed in. This is necessary if you use an account.
- Settings you chose, such as theme, layout, and an API key you pasted. The key stays on that device.
- A device identifier, so cloud sync can tell your computers apart.
That storage is required to provide the service you asked for. It is not used to build an advertising profile, and it is not shared with an ad network. We do not load Google AdSense or a similar advertising script on howyousound.com.
How to remove it
Clear this site's data in your browser settings, or sign out. Clearing site data signs you out and removes an API key stored in that browser. It does not delete a folder of recordings on the computer, and it does not delete a cloud account. Use the account deletion page for the account.
Where we ask
The prompt is shown when the device timezone is in the EU, the UK, or Switzerland. Choosing no keeps the measurement cookie off on that browser. Choosing yes, or visiting from somewhere else, allows Google Analytics to store its cookie and receive the page address, including the in-app address, and the installer file name when a download is chosen. The choice is stored in this browser. We do not send recordings, transcripts, or notes to Google Analytics.
