Terms of Use
Last updated October 1, 2026
Welcome to How You Sound, provided by Solucion One LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of How You Sound, including the website at howyousound.com, the Mac, Windows, and Linux apps, and the services offered through them (the "Services"). By downloading, accessing, or using How You Sound, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Acceptance
By using How You Sound, you represent that you are at least 18 years old, or that you are the parent or guardian of a minor and you consent to that minor's use of the Services. You agree to use the Services in compliance with these Terms and applicable law.
2. The Services
How You Sound is a library for recordings, transcripts, notes, and chat. The installed app can keep that library in a folder you choose on that computer. Nothing has to be uploaded for that library to work. The website keeps a library in an account on a paid plan. The browser cannot open a folder on the computer.
Transcription and the assistant need a model provider. On the installed app you can paste your own API key, and those requests run with that key, on that computer, without a How You Sound subscription. On a paid plan, those requests can use the allowance included with the plan.
Transcripts and assistant replies can be wrong, incomplete, or invented. They are not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. You are responsible for checking them before you rely on them.
3. Accounts
An account is optional for a library that stays on your computer. The website library requires an account. You can register with email and a password, or with Google where that option is shown. You must provide accurate information, and you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us right away if you believe someone else is using it.
Contact contact@solucion.one if you suspect unauthorized use.
4. Plans and payment
4.1 Plans
A library on your computer does not require a paid plan. Paid plans (such as Starter, Pro, Studio, and Business) add a cloud library and an included allowance for transcription and the assistant. The price and what the plan includes are shown before you confirm.
4.2 Your own API key
A key you paste is a contract between you and that provider. Charges from that provider are not charges from us. We do not receive the key. Clearing the key, or using a different provider, is up to you.
4.3 Billing
When a plan is charged, the payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number. By starting a paid subscription, you authorize the charge shown at checkout. A subscription renews for the period you chose until you cancel. Cancel before the renewal if you do not want the next charge.
4.4 Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a paid plan from the billing page Stripe provides for your account, or by emailing us. After you cancel, access continues until the end of the period you already paid for, unless the law where you live requires something else. We do not refund unused time in a period you already started, except where the law requires a refund or a withdrawal right. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, mandatory consumer rights, including any cooling-off right that applies to you, are not waived by this section.
4.5 Price changes
We may change plan prices. A change applies to the next period, and we will tell you before it takes effect where the law requires notice. Continuing after the change takes effect means you accept the new price. If you do not, cancel before the renewal.
5. Recordings of other people
You are responsible for having the right to record, upload, transcribe, and store what you put in How You Sound. That includes other people's voices and images. Recording laws differ. Some places require every person in the recording to agree. Workplaces, schools, and calls across borders can have their own rules. We do not decide whether your recording is lawful. Do not use the Services to secretly record someone where that is illegal.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of recordings, transcripts, notes, and other material you put in the Services ("Your Content"). For a library that stays on your computer, we do not need a license to that material, because we do not host it.
For material you store in an account, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, process, reproduce, and display that material solely to operate the Services for you. That includes syncing it to devices you approve, making a transcript you asked for, and sending the portion needed for an assistant or transcription request to the provider that runs it. The license ends when you delete that material or delete the account, except for copies we must keep for the reasons in the Privacy Policy.
You represent that Your Content does not violate law or anyone else's rights.
7. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Services for anything illegal, or to record someone where you do not have the right to record them.
- Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or exploitative, including sexual content involving anyone under 18.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Services, except where the law forbids that restriction.
- Send viruses or other malicious code.
- Share your password, sell your account, or use another person's account.
- Try to get model output or storage beyond the plan you are on by abusing the Services.
- Use the Services to build a competing dataset from other people's private sessions.
8. Intellectual property
The Services, including our design, software, and branding, excluding Your Content, are owned by Solucion One LLC or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy or create derivative works from the Services except as these Terms allow or as the law permits.
The desktop app includes FFmpeg so video can be prepared on that computer. FFmpeg is third-party software under its own license, which is included with the app.
9. Third-party services
How You Sound relies on services operated by others, including:
- Supabase, to store accounts and cloud sessions.
- Stripe, to process a paid plan.
- Google, if you sign in with Google.
- OpenAI, for transcription and the assistant when a request uses a plan allowance.
- Any provider you name with your own API key.
Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for a third party's independent practices.
10. Account deletion and ending access
You may ask us to delete your account at any time. Instructions are on the account deletion page. Deleting the account removes the account and the cloud sessions tied to it from our active systems. It does not delete files that exist only in a folder on your computer. Cancel a paid subscription as well. Deleting the account does not by itself cancel a charge that Stripe will still renew.
We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms, if we must do so to comply with law, or if we discontinue the Services. Where reasonable, we will tell you first.
11. Disclaimer
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a transcript or assistant reply will be accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow these disclaimers. In those places, they apply only as far as the law allows.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Solucion One LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the claim, or fifty US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum the law allows. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited.
13. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold harmless Solucion One LLC from claims, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising from Your Content, from a recording you did not have the right to make, or from your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law. If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this section does not require you to pay for our negligence or for a claim the law does not let us shift onto you.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. Except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts or in small claims court, disputes will be resolved by binding individual arbitration in Dover, Delaware. You and Solucion One LLC waive any right to a class action or class arbitration, to the extent that waiver is allowed. If arbitration is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim may be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
15. Copyright complaints
If you believe material stored in a How You Sound account infringes your copyright, email contact@solucion.one with the subject "Copyright". Include the URL or a description of the material, your contact information, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner. We may remove the material and, where appropriate, close the account.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The new version will show a revised "Last updated" date and will be posted at howyousound.com/terms-and-conditions. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app. Continuing to use the Services after the update takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Services and delete your account.
